One of our favorite parts of traveling is exploring the local culinary scenes in our amazing destinations. Throughout the month of July, we asked our followers to share their most mouthwatering food pics from their Cape Air travels. While we were flooded with entries of lobster rolls, paella, ice cream, and much more, one entry won the most votes by a landslide.
Coincidentally enough (or not?) our winner, Monica, runs a very popular food Instagram account, @PizzaBlonde. Monica won over the majority of the votes with a delectable photo of lobster pizza. We asked her a few questions about where she finds inspiration for her account, her favorite dishes and travel spots, and more.
What is your favorite Cape Air destination?
Provincetown- my friends and I get a house there every summer, and it's always a ton of fun.
And what is your top place to eat in your favorite Cape Air destination?
Spiritus Pizza in Provincetown. It's in the perfect spot to stop by for a slice while walking around town or grab a pizza to bring home after a night out at the bars.
Where was your winning photo taken?
Scampo at the Liberty Hotel in Boston.
When dining out, what is your go-to dish?
Pepperoni pizza or steak.
What inspired your food Instagram account? Why exclusively pizza?
@PizzaBlonde started as a joke on my personal account- food Instagram accounts were just starting to get popular in 2013 so I thought since I eat pizza so much, I'd post them on my account. After a week or two, I decided, why not make an entire account devoted to pizza? It's my favorite food ever, and as it turns out, people love it just as much, and my following keeps growing!
What is your most memorable "best bite" in a Cape Air destination?
Lobster grilled cheese from Patio in Provincetown. It's so delicious, their portions are huge, and as a bonus, I love their fries.
Where will you be traveling with your prize tickets, and what are you most excited to eat while you're there?
I will be traveling to Martha's Vineyard with my Cape Air tickets, and it'll be my first time there. I'm most excited to eat some great seafood, but to be honest, I'm not super familiar with all of the options. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to give me some tips!
